4:30 pm 14 June There are now 45
rescue camps in Sittwe sheltering over 30,000 refugees, where rescue
works are going on, according to Win Lat Foundation.
2:05 pm 14 June The evacuees from
northern villages of Maungtaw Tonship were placed at (3) rescue camps
namely Pharwetchaung, Ngakhuya and Kyeekanpyin. Over 500 in
Pharwetchaung, about 720 in Ngakhuya, and 40 school teachers in
Kyeekanpyin. The (3) camps are facing food shortage and Maungtaw could
be able to supply only on 15 June.
1:45 pm 14 June Maungtaw was calm
since the morning till 1:30 pm with heavy rain pouring down, keeping
the people inside the house. The banks functioned until 12:00 noon. Four
rescue camps in Maungtaw were provided with foodstuff by social
associations.
Rakhine nationals from Waitharli Villages returned
home as advised by the responsible persons. Three houses were burned
down in that village, which is located near the NASAKA Border Control
Unit. The authorities informed the residents in Maungtaw about Section
144 at night time.
12:45 pm 14 June A body of
Bengali was found in the drainage near Sittwe General Hospital which was
assumed to be floated down from Aungmingalar Ward (or) Magyimyaing
Ward.
12:00 noon 14 June There was no
blaze similar to 13 June as t here was hevy rin in Sittwe. Rakhine State
Minister for Electricity U Thar Lu Chay distributed rice to homeless
people in (4) villages.
11:45 am 14 June Special Advisor
to the UNSG Mr. Nambier arrived at Sittwe Airport at 11:40 am on 14 June
and prepared to leave shortly, but the media persons did not have the
opportunity to interview the UN official.
11:00 am 14 June The
correspondent from EMG reported, “One vessel carrying rescue materials
and aid left Sittwe for Buthitaung to provide to the homeless in
Buthitaung and Maungtaw.
10:55 am 14 June A local said,
“About 1,600 houses were burnt down in Sittwe. Thirty persons were
arrested on attempt of arson in Sittwe. About 3,000 people from 400
households in Pauktaw are facing foot shortage.
9:10 am 14 June The correspondent
from EMG reported, “Sittwe is calm since the morning with heavy down
pour. Some Bengali assaulted with catapults to Rakhine houses in Kathay
Village. They ran away when Myanmar troops warning shots in the air.”
“There was news that six Bengalis were dead. Three from Mingan and they were carrying fire blazing materials.”
“Yesterday, about 100 houses was burned down in
Kontan Village of Rathedaung area. One Bengali intentionally burned his
own house and the blaze blew to the other houses. There were about 600
Bengalis coming from Sittwe to Rathedaung. Last night at midnight four
Hindus and 14 Maramargyis were taken away in (3) vehicles by Myanmar
troops and Police Forces, reported by EMG correspondent on 14 June.
