Starting on 8th June, 2012, there are riots breaking out between Bengali Rohingyas and native Arakaneses in in Buthedaung and Maungdaw of Arakan State, Myanmar (Burma).
BBC, CNN and international media are presenting and publishing news that Burmese Military junta and native Arakan people are using brutal force upon illegal immigrants from Bangladesh called “Rohingya”. Illegal immigrants from Bangladesh called “Rohingya” and mischievous provocation of some international communities. Therefore, such interfering efforts by some powerful nations on this issue (Rohingya issue), without fully understanding the ethnic groups and other situations of Burma, will be viewed as offending the sovereignty of our nation. Starting from BBC, VOA, RFA, DVB, even Reuters and New York Times, whenever I read the news, the headlines about this incident is titled as “Buddhists Vs Muslims” or “Burmese Vs Muslims”. Some medias even stated initially that “ Rohingya’s abuse as Burma’s attack”. People in Burma already stated publicly that this is not the case against religion. In Maungdaw township, four camps for humanitarian purposes have been operated, currently a total of 2038 people are seeking refuge there. There is one camp in Buthidaung township, helping 948 people. Over 5000 people are seeking refuge at 10 monasteries in Sittwe.
Bengali Rohingya from the nearby neighborhoods of the town of Sittwe contacted the state government office and ask for their protection. For instance, Bengali Rohingya from the neighborhood of Makyee Myaing asked the local authorities’ help in moving to Bu May district. There are a lot of non-violent people among them as well. Therefore, we have operated two camps intended for Bengali Rohingya. One is at a local high school building at Set Yone Su village, from the village group of Nazi. There are altogether 333 families whose numbers count for 2125 people, seeking refuge in Set Yone Su camp.
There is another camp operating at Makyee Myaing mosque, 30 families whose numbers total to over 300 people are taking asylum there. We take that the current crisis is ongoing because both sides fail to construct trust with each other’s counterpart. Therefore, the officials are negotiating between those from ethnic Rakhine and the Bengali Rohingya. For instance, when the anarchy began, no Rakhine dares to go towards where the Bengali Rohingya are.
For the time being, the respective officials are going towards to the Bengali Rohingya community and helping and engaging with them also. A senior official of Rakhine State Government Office confirmed to Eleven Media Group.

Under pressure from Bangladesh, the Arakan Rohingya National Organization (ARNO) contacted the Karenni National Progressive Party in late August 2002 regarding the possibility of relocating its bases to KNPP-controlled territory on the border between Thailand and Burma. According to a report prepared by Burmese military intelligence, ARNO also sought membership in the Democratic Alliance of Burma, a loose confederation of Burmese insurgent groups now operating on the Thai/Burmese border. KNPP reportedly refused ARNO's request. The DAB also rejected ARNO's application for membership, but has forged a "military alliance" with ARNO, according to the paper. The Burmese also report that ARNO's Chairman Nurul Islam, has received a U.S. visa and is en route to the United States via Saudi Arabia. The facts in the Burmese paper appear plausible. Its purpose is probably to draw a connection between Al Qaeda, which has supported ARNO, and Burmese insurgent groups active on the Thai border.

Two suspects on the run after weapons were found in a house of AZG staff

Two suspects accused of having links with Al Quaeda are on the run after weapons were found in a house of their co-worker, well-placed sources in Sittwe told YPI by phone.
Those two suspects are Zaw Lin Tun and Hla Shwe who work at MSF-Holland (Artsen Zonder Grenzen - AZG) in Sittwe together with Kyaw Hla Aung from whom two boxes of weapons were seized this morning.
The two boxes that contain guns and ammunition were found in Kyaw Hla Aung’s house which is situated near a mosque in Ye Nwe Su Quarter of Sittwe. Some documents were also seized together with the weapons.
According to some eyewitnesses, Rock-Propelled Grenades (PRG) are seen in the hands of armed-Bengalis who engage fighting against riot police around Sittwe.

Foreign media are now presenting bias reports on the clashes between Rakhine people and Bengali Rohingyas to destroy the image of Myanmar and its people.
For example, the reporting of the BBC news agency mentioned on 8 June that police forces are firing at the rioters in Maungdaw Township, quoting the so-called witnesses. The report of this news agency was based on religion.
Moreover, the AFP news agency also stated on 7 June that police forces are shooting the mobs. Their news mentioned the conflict between Muslims and Rakhine people.
The Nation Media of Thailand stated the news “Call for UN to intervene in Rohingya ‘genocide’. They first mentioned the news with the photo of Eleven Media Group without caption. In fact, the photo is the burning Rakhine houses ignited by Rohingyas. As the news was stated with no captioned photo, international readers misunderstood the country and the people.
